Single Touch Payroll (STP) is a reporting system that allows businesses to electronically provide payroll information directly to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). When you process your pay run, the details are shared with other government agencies if necessary.
STP reporting started on 1 July 2018 (Phase 1). We were the first Payroll Software provider approved to lodge an STP report to the ATO, which was successfully sent and processed on 6 July 2017.
From 1 January 2022, additional payroll data is collected and reported (STP Phase 2) to reduce the reporting burden for employers who must provide employee information to multiple government agencies (such as Services Australia).
As e-PayDay Go® is using a Sending Service Provider (SSP), you do not need to obtain an SSID from the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) before Single Touch Payroll reporting.
STP reporting is easily managed in e-PayDay Go® by accessing the Single Touch Payroll (STP) Menu. When you process a pay run, you can report the required information to the ATO after completing all the necessary steps. e-PayDay Go® is a fully integrated STP-enabled payroll solution with all STP lodgements automatically managed using a Sending Service Provider (SSP). e-PayDay Go® is designed to help Australian employers meet ATO payroll reporting obligations accurately and efficiently.
The Single Touch Payroll (STP) Menu contains the following options:
View STP Lodgements enables you to view the Single Touch Payroll Lodgments that have been processed.
Lodge STP Update enables you to send an Update to advise the ATO of changes to the Payee YTD Taxation Balances. This action may also be used when transitioning from another Payroll Solution.
Zero STP YTD Balances enables you to send an Update to advise the ATO that the balances reported from e-PayDay Go for the chosen Payees need to be zeroed.
STP EOFY Manager enables you to send an Update to advise the ATO that the balances reported from e-PayDay Go® need to be finalised for the chosen Payees. You do not need to send a final event before you can start a pay run in the new financial year.
